Continuing Education Requirements
Licensed Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons
Licensed real estate brokers and salespersons must complete
at least 15 hours of classroom continuing education every
two years. Three of these hours must be in a course(s)
covering federal, state and/or local law updates. The
remaining hours must be in courses covering one or more of
the following topics:
- Federal, state, local issues
- Antitrust law
- Fair housing law
- Real estate ethics or professional standards
- Disclosure
- Professional enhancement for practicing licensees
- Technology relating to real estate brokerage services
Each course must last 1.5 - 6 hours. No more than 3 hours shall be in
the technology topic.
There is a reduction in continuing education hours for licensees who have
held a Maryland real estate license for at least 10 years. All licensees not
claiming solely commercial business are required to complete 1.5 hours in
fair housing to renew.
